V. Kern Ideal Target Model muzzle inside diameter is .3130″ rifle

Description

s/n 10, brl length 28", very good condition, falling block action. Manufactured in Nurnberg as it is marked on the top of the barrel flat at the rear. The bore is very bright having nice rifling the barrel is octagonal with a knurled top flat marked just forward of the chamber "V. KERN NURNBERG" there is also a section just forward of that where the top flat is flared to accommodate the mounting of a scope. Underside of the barrel around the area where the forend retaining wedge slides it is marked "2 H.W. 10". The receiver/frame retain most of the case coloring with the lever retaining some as well. The rifle has a tang mounted safety and a tang mounted Diopter peep sight with large eye cap. The front sight is fixed and serrated and the top of the receiver just behind the block is marked "IDEAL" in a partial ellipse. The walnut checkered pistol grip stock has a black grip cap, composite black serrated butt plate and a left side mounted cheek rest. The forend is smooth walnut in a Schnabel style. The entire rifle shows only very minor light handling in a few spots but looks like the whole rifle was varnished, it wasn't. It likely had whale oil put on it to preserve it and when whale oil dries it looks like varnish but with a little rubbing and cleaner it will come off and not affect the underlying surface.
